Tennessee-Illinois initial football bowl game score prediction

No. 23 Tennessee (8-4, 4-4 SEC) will play Illinois (8-4, 5-4 Big Ten) in the Liberty Mutual Music City Bowl on Dec. 30.
Kickoff between the Vols and Fighting Illini is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. EST at Nissan Stadium in Nashville, Tennessee. The contest will be televised by ESPN.
Tennessee has a 67.5 percent chance to defeat Illinois in the Music City Bowl, according to ESPN’s FPI. Nolan Analytics projects the Vols to defeat Illinois, 31-24, following the announcement of the bowl game.
The Music City Bowl will mark the first meeting all time between the Vols and Fighting Illini.
Tennessee last played in the Music City Bowl on Dec. 30, 2021. Purdue defeated the Vols, 48-45 in overtime, during Josh Heupel’s first season as Tennessee’s head coach.
The Vols kicked off their 2023 season versus Virginia at Nissan Stadium. Tennessee was victorious, 49-13.
