LSU football loses talented defensive tackle to transfer portal

Given the excitement around LSU football over the past month, with the hiring of Lane Kiffin and the retention of defensive coordinator Blake Baker, along with the impressive recruiting class the Tigers put together, LSU was due for some bad news.

LSU defensive tackle Ahmad Breaux is set to enter the transfer portal when it opens on January 2, according to CBS Sports.

Breaux has had a successful couple of seasons in Baton Rouge, totaling 36 tackles and four tackles for loss over his two collegiate seasons. He signed with the Tigers as a three-star recruit and, after two seasons with the team, has decided to head elsewhere.

This split appears to be amicable, based on Breaux’s social media. He reposted a post from his mom on “X”, which read: “LSU fans, you were the best part. Thank you ALL for the support you have shown my kid throughout his time here at LSU!! He’s moving on, but will forever be grateful for the opportunity to have played at Death Valley.”

It’s unfortunate to see a Louisiana native decide to leave the program, but considering the talent LSU added to its defensive line with its excellent 2026 recruiting class, it’s assumed that Breaux would have struggled to find playing time next season.

Another factor likely contributing to Breaux’s departure is the exit of defensive line coach Kyle Williams, who also coached Breaux in high school.
