Notre Dame Announces Jeremiyah Love News After College Football Playoff Snub

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish finished the year with a 10-2 record. But, in a stunning turn of events, the Irish were left out of the 12-team College Football Playoff.

Miami, Tulane and James Madison grabbed the final three spots, and Alabama landed as the No. 9 seed after a loss to Georgia in the SEC title game.

After the snub, Notre Dame then decided it would not participate in any bowl game, which created some more questions about the state of the Selection Committee process.

Just a year ago, Notre Dame played in the national title game but lost to Ohio State, 34-23.

While it wasn’t the ending to the 2025 season Notre Dame was hoping for, some good news circulated on Monday regarding star running back Jeremiyah Love.

Love was named one of four Heisman Trophy finalists, along with Ohio State QB Julian Sayin, Indiana QB Fernando Mendoza, and Vanderbilt QB Diego Pavia.

After the news, the Notre Dame account reacted to Love being a finalist.

“L O V E. Jeremiyah Love is a finalist for the 2025 Heisman Trophy.”

Love making the list is not a big surprise.

He finished the season with 1,372 yards rushing and 18 touchdowns on 199 carries. He averaged 114 yards per game, and he had 27 catches for 280 yards and three scores.

Love’s best game came against the USC Trojans, where he had 228 yards and a score on 24 carries.

He is now a finalist and is likely a first-round pick in the 2026 NFL Draft.

The winner will be announced on Saturday, December 13, during the Heisman Trophy Ceremony on ESPN.
