Indiana Mr. Football 2025 position winners: Coaches pick state's best

The Indiana Football Coaches Association voted for the Indiana Mr. Football position winners for 2025. A closer look at the Mr. Football position winners and their accomplishments (only seniors are eligible for the award):

WIDE RECEIVER

Jerquaden Guilford, Fort Wayne Northrop

Fort Wayne Northrop receiver and Ohio State commit Jerquaden Guilford.

One of the big stories in Fort Wayne football this year was the turnaround of the Northrop program, which went 8-3 to post a six-win improvement and first winning season since 2003. At the forefront of that flip was the play of the 6-4, 185-pound Ohio State commit, who finished with 54 receptions for 1,073 yards and 14 touchdowns. He also ran for 96 yards and four TDs and had 19 tackles and one interception on defense.

The Ohio State recruit finished his career with 115 receptions for 2,003 yards and 21 touchdowns. Guilford also had 145 rushing yards and five rushing TDs and 25 tackles on defense with two interceptions.

TIGHT END

Tyler Ruxer, Heritage Hills

The 6-4, 220-pound Ruxer, an Oklahoma recruit, caught 53 passes for 819 yards and seven touchdowns as a senior to help Heritage Hills to a 12-2 record and Class 4A regional championship. Ruxer also finished with 35 tackles, two interceptions and one fumble recovery on defense.

For his career, Ruxer had 123 receptions for 2,257 yards and 28 touchdowns. He also had impressive career numbers on defense with 126 tackles (76 solo), seven interceptions, two fumble recoveries and one caused fumble.

OFFENSIVE LINE

C.J. Scifres, Center Grove

The 6-6, 320-pound Indiana recruit anchored an offensive line that helped Center Grove to a 10-2 season and Class 6A sectional title. Scifres, who was an IFCA Top-50 All-State selection as a junior, helped the Trojans average 35.8 points and 382 yards of total offense, including 232 on the ground, per game as a senior.

QUARTERBACK

Jett Goldsberry, Heritage Hills

The 6-foot, 200-pound Purdue recruit set several program records during his four-year career at Heritage Hills, including rushing touchdowns (85), rushing yards (4,616), passing touchdowns (70) and passing yards (5,420). He helped the Patriots to a Class 3A state championship as a junior and a 4A regional title as a senior after Heritage Hills moved up through the tournament success factor.

As a senior, Goldsberry passed for 2,017 yards and 25 touchdowns and ran for 1,355 yards and 31 TDs. He also posted 45 tackles, including 10 for a loss, with three sacks and one interception on defense. Goldsberry also averaged 42.6 yards per punt.

RUNNING BACK

Myles McLaughlin, Knox

The 5-10, 190-pound senior played quarterback but essentially was a running back as he broke the nation’s single-season high school rushing record with 4,846 yards and 71 rushing touchdowns to lead Knox to a 13-1 season and Class 3A regional championship. He also had 66 tackles and eight interceptions.

McLaughlin, a Murray State recruit, finished his career with 11,839 rushing yards to rank third in the nation in high school football history. He had 13,072 total yards and 174 touchdowns, along with 200 tackles and 15 interceptions on defense.

KICKER

Van Krisiloff, Cathedral

The 5-10, 165-pound Krisiloff, an Eastern Michigan commit, was a weapon on special teams for Cathedral, connecting on 13 of his 21 field-goal attempts with a long of 46 yards. He finished with 28-for-42 on field goals for his career, including 74-for-74 on extra points.

Krisiloff was also an outstanding punter, averaging 37.3 yards per attempt and pinning opponents inside their 20 on 15 of his 34 punts. He also had 22 touchbacks on his 37 kickoffs.

DEFENSIVE LINE

Jerimy Finch Jr., Warren Central

The 6-3, 280-pound Finch Jr. helped Warren Central to an 8-5 season and its first regional title in seven years, finishing with 85 tackles (58 solo) with 23 tackles for loss and 7½ sacks. Finch, a Tennessee recruit, also had a safety, a punt return for a touchdown and two rushing TDs on offense.

Finch finished his junior season with 92 tackles (57 solo), 24 TFLs and seven sacks. For his career, he finished with 273 tackles, 67 TFLs and 26½ sacks.

LINEBACKER

Dane Bathurst, Carmel

The 6-4, 240-pound Bathurst, an Oklahoma recruit, made a big impact in his only season at Carmel as he finished with 65 tackles, 12 tackles for loss, and seven sacks in nine games as Carmel improved by six wins to finish 9-2.

Bathurst, who played at Tampa Plant (Fla.) prior to transferring to Carmel to play with his cousins, Anthony and Drake Coellner, was previously committed to Duke before flipping his commitment to the Sooners.

DEFENSIVE BACK

Kasmir Hicks, Decatur Central

No. 7 in-state recruit: CB/WR Kasmir Hicks, Decatur Central (committed to IU)

The 5-11, 175-pound Hicks did it all the past two seasons for Decatur Central, helping the Hawks to a Class 5A state championship as a junior and a Class 6A regional championship as a senior. Hicks was the Marion County Defensive Player of the Year as a senior, finishing with 687 rushing yards and 11 rushing TDs as a senior, along with 33 catches for 463 yards and three TDs, and 39 tackles and three interceptions on defense.

Over two seasons, the Indiana recruit accumulated 1,213 rushing yards and 16 rushing TDs, 1,377 receiving yards and 16 receiving TDs. Hicks also had 811 return yards and six special teams/defensive TDs, along with 103 tackles and eight career interceptions.

PUNTER

Lucas Nguyen, Fort Wayne Bishop Dwenger

Nguyen made one of the most memorable plays of state finals weekend, converting a 37-yard touchdown pass on a fake field goal for a game-tying score in Dwenger’s 36-29 win over Roncalli for the Class 4A state title.

Nguyen was 18-for-24 on field goals with a long of 54 yards (four field goals over 50 yards) and 36-for-38 on extra points. He had 54 touchbacks on his 75 kickoffs and averaged 37.9 yards per punt.
