MANHATTAN — Kansas State football coach Collin Klein has his first reported assistant targeted, and it is someone who has worn Wildcat purple before.
Texas A&M tight ends coach Christian Ellsworth is expected to join Klein’s coaching staff, according to a report by CBS Sports’ Matt Zenitz. His potential role is unspecified.
Ellsworth was promoted to the Aggies’ tight ends coach in 2025 after working as a senior offensive analyst in 2024. He began his coaching career at Kansas State under Klein as an offensive graduate assistant.
Ellsworth and Klein’s relationship began in 2016 when he played quarterback at Northern Iowa. During his redshirt freshman year, Klein was the program’s quarterback coach.
He also spent time as an offensive graduate assistant at South Carolina (2022) and as an offensive analyst at Nebraska (2023).
Multiple reports have suggested that Klein will bring multiple members of his Texas A&M staff to Manhattan, while Ellsworth’s name was the first to surface. Kansas State named Klein its next head coach on Dec. 4.
