The first installment of the 2025-26 College Football Playoff rankings was released on Tuesday night. To no one’s surprise, the No. 1 team in both polls and the FanDuel favorite, Ohio State, was the top team. The defending national champions remain undefeated and are seemingly on an Indianapolis collision course with No. 2 Indiana. Oregon was the only other Big Ten team inside the Top-12, checking in at No. 9.
The SEC was well represented with six teams inside the Top-12: No. 3 Texas A&M, No. 4 Alabama, No. 5 Georgia, No. 6 Ole Miss, No. 11 Texas, and No. 12 Oklahoma. With a few weeks of chaos left, perhaps no conference has more to gain or lose than the SEC in terms of volume representation.
After a week of cannibalization, the ACC had zero representatives inside the Top-12, with Virginia being the highest-ranked team at No. 14. At this point, it feels safe to assume only one team from this conference will make the CFP.
The remaining Power Four conference, the Big 12, has two teams inside the Top-12 at the moment — BYU at No. 7 and Texas Tech at No. 8. These two teams will meet this Saturday in Lubbock and could even rematch in the Big 12 Championship. The loser has to be seen as the first team out next week, with one spot in the Top-12 guaranteed to a Group of Six representative.
Notre Dame is the last team in the Top-12. After stumbling out of the blocks in the first two weeks of the season, the Irish have been rolling their way back all the way to No. 10.
The Michigan Wolverines clocked in at No. 21 in the rankings and look to be the lowest-ranked team still alive for an at-large berth thanks to the final game of the season against Ohio State. Here are the official FanDuel odds.
