The three finalists for the prestigious Rimington Trophy, which recognizes the most outstanding center in college football, were announced on Monday. Among the triumvirate is Florida Gators center Jake Slaughter, who is in line for a laundry list of accolades after his redshirt senior campaign.

Along with the fifth-year offensive lineman, graduate student Logan Jones of the Iowa Hawkeyes and junior Iapani Laloulu of the Oregon Ducks were also named. The winner will be announced on Dec. 12 during the ESPN College Football Awards Show.

Pro Football Focus gave Slaughter an 78.9 overall offensive grade last season, which is the fifth-best among FBS centers. His 78.3 run-blocking grade also represented the fifth-best mark, while his 87.1 pass-blocking rating was the eighth-highest.

Following his final collegiate campaign, Slaughter finds himself listed on the Lombardi Award Watch List, Rimington Trophy Watch List, Outland Trophy Watch List and Sporting News Preseason All-America First Team, while also accepting an invitation to the Senior Bowl.

About the Rimington Trophy

“The Rimington Trophy is presented annually to the most outstanding center in NCAA Division I College Football. Since its inception, the award has raised over $5 million for the Boomer Esiason Foundation,” the official site states.

“Dave Rimington, the award’s namesake, was a consensus first-team All-America center at the University of Nebraska in 1981 and 1982, during which time he became the John Outland Trophy’s only two-time winner as the nation’s finest college interior lineman.”
