LSU Football Schedule: When is the Tigers bowl game?

LSU football learned its bowl game destination and opponent on Sunday. The Tigers are slated to face Houston in the Texas Bowl. The game marks back-to-back Texas Bowl trips for LSU after the Tigers beat Baylor last year.

The LSU program is riding high after the hire of head coach Lane Kiffin, but interim head coach Frank Wilson will remain at the helm through bowl season.

As usual, LSU will have a few opt-outs. Players set to enter the NFL Draft will likely get a head start on the draft process and there will be a handful of transfers, too. The transfer portal doesn't officially open until January, which could lead to some players waiting until after the bowl.

LSU's offense will be overhauled by Kiffin and staff, but the defense will remain intact. LSU DC Blake Baker is returning, as is most of the defensive staff. That gives Baker a chance to work with his young core leading up to the bowl game. That's valuable experience.

Here's when and where LSU will take on Houston.

LSU Football Bowl Game Schedule

LSU will face Houston on Dec. 27 in the Texas Bowl. The game is slated to kick at 8:15 p.m. CT on ESPN. This will be LSU's third trip to the Texas Bowl since 2022.

In 2022, the Tigers lost to Kansas State. Last year, LSU defeated Baylor to finish the year on a high note. The Tigers will hope for a similar result this time around.
