After No. 23 Iowa football finished with a regular-season record of 8-4 (6-3 Big Ten) and accepted an invite to the ReliaQuest Bowl against No. 14 Vanderbilt (10-2, 6-2 SEC), the Hawkeyes received excellent news on the recruiting front.

Iowa is on the board in the 2027 recruiting class, picking up a commitment from in-state four-star linebacker Gavin Stecker.

Stecker, a 6-foot-3, 210-pounder out of Bettendorf High School in Bettendorf, Iowa, is ranked 348th overall in his class, as the No. 25 linebacker prospect, as the No. 4 recruit in Iowa and as a four-star per the 247Sports composite rankings.

“Born to wear black and gold,” Stecker wrote on X in his commitment announcement.

Fresh off a successful junior season at Bettendorf, Stecker chose the Hawkeyes over offers from Iowa State, Kansas, Kansas State, and Minnesota.
