Former Tennessee target will transfer from LSU football

LSU (7-5, 3-5 SEC) will conclude its 2025 football season versus Houston (9-3, 6-3 Big 12) in the Texas Bowl on Dec. 27. Kickoff between the Tigers and Cougars is scheduled for 9:15 p.m. EST at NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas (ESPN).
Former Tennessee assistant coach Frank Wilson is serving as LSU’s interim head coach for the remainder of the season. The Tigers parted ways with Brian Kelly as head coach after Week 9.
Wilson served as the Vols’ wide receivers coach in 2009 during Lane Kiffin’s one season as Tennessee’s head coach. Kiffin was introduced as LSU’s head coach on Dec. 1.
LSU sophomore running back Ju’Juan Johnson will enter the NCAA transfer portal with two years of eligibility remaining, he announced on social media Wednesday.
He appeared in 25 games, including one start, for the Tigers from 2024-25. The 6-foot, 210-pound sophomore totaled 165 rushing yards, two rushing touchdowns, 94 receiving yards, one receiving touchdown and 14 passing yards at LSU.
Johnson started his collegiate career in LSU’s secondary. He moved to running back after an injury to John Emery in 2024.
Johnson went to LSU from Lafayette Christian Academy in Lafayette, Louisiana. He set a Louisiana record for total yards (14,451) and touchdowns (171).
Tennessee and head coach Josh Heupel offered Johnson a scholarship on July 27, 2022.
