Michigan shockingly fired head football coach Sherrone Moore on Wednesday, Dec. 10.
Michigan said in a statement that Moore was fired, with cause, after an investigation found “credible evidence” that he was engaging “in an inappropriate relationship with a staff member.”
Unsurprisingly, the announcement sent the college football world into hysterics. It’s a landscape-changing move on multiple levels, as Michigan now will be among the last teams looking for a new coach after an absolutely bananas coaching carousel.
In addition, the move comes just a week after early signing day, when Michigan locked in the No. 11 ranked class in the country, according to 247 Sports’ composite rankings, which also included the No. 1 running back in the country and the No. 1 edge rusher.
All of that led to utter shock on social media, as Michigan is moving on from Moore after two seasons and an 17-8 record for an off-the-field reason.

Sadly Sherrone Moore didn’t even get to serve his whole suspension

A few top-of-mind quick thoughts on potential next steps:
– Go Sooners!
– Penn State annoyingly backing into Matt Campbell is now infinitely more annoying
– Non-connected coaching option that would excite me the most is Kenny Dillingham— Scott Bell (@sbell021) December 10, 2025
Ok….I’ll do it. I’ll coach the team.
In all seriousness, I would guarantee Bryce Underwood would have more than 9 touchdown passes next year.

Kalen DeBoer would be the obvious top name for Michigan.

I tweeted this two weeks ago.
Since then, Michigan football lost to OSU and fired its coach for cause, and Michigan basketball is ranked #1/2 and has the 4th-best rating in the KenPom era.
The inverse relationship is the law. https://t.co/zM0BQ6X8R2
