There's still a bowl game to play for the Iowa football team, but the coaching staff is already beginning to work on the 2026 roster.

While the transfer portal doesn't officially open until January 2, players can still declare their intentions to transfer, and teams can extend offers to those players. That's exactly what the Hawkeyes did on Wednesday afternoon, when they officially offered a wide receiver planning to enter the portal.

Corey Scott, a wide receiver at West Florida, took to X on Wednesday to announce that Iowa sent him an offer.

Scott will be a redshirt junior next season. The 6-foot-1, 180-pound receiver is from Jacksonville, Florida, and had a monster sophomore season with the Argonauts. He had 63 receptions for 1,018 yards and four touchdowns, helping lead Division II West Florida to a 10-2 record and a second-round playoff appearance. Scott also holds an offer from Big Ten rival Minnesota.

With Iowa set to lose wide receivers Sam Phillips, Seth Anderson, Jacob Gill, and Kaden Wetjen to graduation, it makes sense why Kirk Ferentz is looking to add some talent to that room for the 2026 roster. Barring anyone entering the portal for the Hawks, Iowa will return some talent in Reece Vander Zee and Dayton Howard, but they'll need some more depth there. Scott would fit into that room perfectly.

The Hawkeyes will hit the portal even harder following the ReliaQuest Bowl against Vanderbilt, but it's never too early to get a start with that process. Time will tell if Iowa can get Scott to commit. He would be a nice addition to the 2026 roster if Iowa can seal the deal.
