LSU football’s Ju’Juan Johnson announced on social media Wednesday that he intends to play in the Kinder’s Texas Bowl, scheduled for Saturday, December 27. Reports indicated that he would enter the transfer portal, which Johnson confirmed.

“I am still playing in the bowl game! Will finish this season off right with my teammates,” Johnson said.

In his second season donning the purple and gold, Johnson was a versatile player on offense. He worked at running back and quarterback, depending on which position needed more help on the depth chart.

Johnson played in 25 games with one start through two years in Baton Rouge. In 2025, he took 38 carries for 151 yards and two touchdowns along with 17 catches for 72 yards. He threw one pass for 14 yards.

Coming out of high school, Johnson was one of the most prolific passers in Louisiana state history. A Lafayette native, he set state records with 14,451 yards and 171 touchdowns. Recruited as a cornerback to LSU, he was the No. 9 prospect out of Louisiana.
