BYU recruit Ryder Lyons named ALL-USA Football Team QB finalist

Ryder Lyons is one of the most electrifying high school quarterbacks in the nation, combining elite production with a compelling personal story.
Lyon’s senior year at Folsom High School in California has been dominant. He opened with a 32-for-38 passing performance for 408 yards and four touchdowns in a 51–13 win over Grant and has not looked back. He continues to rank among the top quarterbacks nationally in passing yards and efficiency.
His play earned him a spot as a finalist on the ALL-USA West Football Team, which also makes him a finalist for the national ALL-USA Football Team. Both of those teams will be announced later this month. Here is a full list of all the quarterback finalists.

Career Statistics
As a sophomore in 2023, Lyons completed 259 of 381 passes for 3,578 yards and 38 TDs. He added 929 rushing yards and 23 rushing TDs and was named Sacramento Bee Player of the Year.
During his junior season he added 3,011 passing yards and 46 TDs while rushing for 585 yards and 14 TDs. He led Folsom to a 12–1 record and a berth in the CIF Division 1-AA North Regional championship game.
This season, he completed 76.8 percent of his passes (265 for 345) for 3,485 yards and 36 touchdowns with nine interceptions. In three years as a varsity starter he passed for 10,074 yards and 120 touchdowns with 1,948 rushing yards.

Recruiting Information
Rated a 4-star quarterback by 247Sports, Lyons is listed as the No. 5 quarterback in the class and the No. 6 overall recruit in the state of California.
He had offers from more than 30 schools, including Alabama, Oregon, USC, Michigan, Ohio State and Ole Miss but signed with BYU this month.
He will serve a LDS mission after graduation and enroll at BYU in January 2027.
Lyons is BYU’s highest-rated QB recruit since Ben Olson in the early 2000s.

Interesting Facts Family ties
Lyons is the gandson of Academy Award-winning director Kieth Merrill and brother of football player Walker Lyons. He is a multi-sport athlete who also plays varsity basketball.
Lyons was named the Gatorade California Player of the Year as a junior. He is known for his ability to extend plays, scramble for big gains and deliver clutch throws.
