Michigan fired football coach Sherrone Moore on Dec. 10 for cause after the school found "credible evidence" he "engaged in an inappropriate relationship with a staff member," per a university statement, and hours after he was relieved of his duties, Moore was arrested and booked into Washtenaw County Jail in Michigan at 8:30 p.m. ET.

ESPN reported that Moore was detained in Saline, Michigan and turned over to police in Pittsfield Township for investigation into potential assault charges. Details of what led to Moore's arrest were still unknown.

Moore remained in custody on Dec. 11 and is expected to appear in court for an arraignment on Dec. 12, according to the Pittsfield Township Police Department.

Prior to the 39-year-old's arrest, the school had issued a statement saying that Moore's "conduct constitutes a clear violation of university policy, and U-M maintains zero tolerance for such behavior."

Succeeding Harbaugh as the Wolverines' full-time head coach, Moore led Michigan to one of the biggest upsets in the rivalry's history when unranked Michigan beat No. 2 Ohio State 13-10 at Ohio Stadium in 2024.

In 2025, Ohio State cruised past Michigan 27-9, handing Moore his first loss in The Game.
