The Oklahoma Sooners have had a tremendous 2025 season, earning a 10-2 record and a College Football Playoff berth for the first time since 2019. It's a veteran group on both sides of the ball, but Oklahoma wouldn't be playing postseason football without the contributions from key true freshmen on both sides of the ball. Two Sooners were honored by the SEC with selections to the conference's All-Freshman team.

Cornerback Courtland Guillory and running back Tory Blaylock were honored on Thursday, selected by the SEC's head coaches.

Guillory played in all 12 games for the Sooners this season, starting 10 of them and finished second on the defense in snaps behind only Peyton Bowen. Guillory allowed more than two catches in just two games this season and stood tall against some of the SEC's best wide receivers throughout the season. He allowed an NFL passer rating of 69.6, which was 12th in the SEC among corners with at least 488 snaps this season. Guillory's 48.9% catch rate allowed ranked seventh in the SEC and his 209 receiving yards allowed were sixth in the SEC.

Guillory showed a maturity and a toughness all season long, providing great coverage and being a willing tackler in the running game.

Blaylock was called the most consistent running back for the Oklahoma Sooners out of fall camp and he played like it early in the season. Blaylock led the Sooners with 444 rushing yards, averaging 4.1 yards per game. He was dinged up for most of the season, but that didn't stop him from running tough and battling through injury to stay in the game. He had a pair of 100-yard days, including a career-high effort in Oklahoma's road win over South Carolina. He closed the season with a solid day against the LSU Tigers, carrying the ball 11 times for 42 yards. Blaylock also led the Sooners with 16 runs of 10 yards or more and six runs of 15 yards or more. He showed

Blaylock's tough running style helped the Sooners' offense rebound against South Carolina and stay afloat for much of the season until Xavier Robinson got healthy and was able to take a little bit of the load off. With Jaydn Ott struggling to gain favor in the running back rotation and Jovantae Barnes' unavailability, Blaylock was the running back offense for much of the first two months of the season.

One key freshman was snubbed from the conference honors, Michael Fasusi. Fasusi started 10 games for the Sooners at left tackle, one of the most difficult positions to play in football. He battled injuries early in the season but made every start from Week 6 until the end of the regular season. Fasusi was graded as Oklahoma's best pass blocker in 2025 by Pro Football Focus and finished third among offensive linemen in snaps behind guard Febechi Nwaiwu and center Jake Maikkula.

It's the second season in a row in which true freshmen have made significant impacts for the Oklahoma Sooners. If the Sooners are going to go far in the College Football Playoff, they'll need their true freshmen to play key roles.
