The last 24 hours have not been easy for the Michigan football team without even getting into how the Sherrone Moore mess will impact the program’s commits.
Multiple recruits, however, are seemingly reaffirming their loyalty to the team and interim coach Biff Poggi as turmoil swirls following Moore’s scandal-plagued firing.
The change in leadership has not scared away Markel Dabney, who appeared to reaffirmed his commitment to the new boss in a social media post.
“@BiffPoggi is the man for the job!” Dabney wrote on X.
Dabney, a three-star linebacker from Virginia, committed to Michigan in June and signed last week.
Offensive line signee Adrian Hamilton reposted Dabney’s words on his own X account, seeming to throw his own support behind the interim coach.
And the mother of four-star receiver Travis Johnson balked at a social media post that linked to a story about Michigan players whom West Virginia should pursue.

Poggi served as the Wolverines coach for two games during the 2025 season — for Week 3 and Week 4 — and had previously served as head coach at Charlotte in 2023 and 2024.
His team in Charlotte went 3-9 during his first year and was 3-7 before he was fired late in the 2024 campaign.
Poggi steps into a volatile situation as the Michigan football program was rocked by the firing of Moore and the dramatic fallout that followed off the field.
Moore was arrested, but has not been charged, in relation to an alleged assault following his firing on Wednesday afternoon.
