ESPN’s “College GameDay” isn’t attending the 126th edition of the Army Black Knights versus Navy Midshipmen game, which will be played at M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore, Maryland. The GameDay team will have the week off ahead of the first-round of the College Football Playoff.
The Army-Navy game is the best rivalry in college football. The game isn’t about money, hostile sportsmanship, standing on your rivals’ logo or anything like that. Instead, it is purely about giving an all-out effort to beat your rival. GameDay hasn’t attended the Army-Navy game since 2021. It visited the Army-Navy game every year from 2014-2021, but has missed the last four years of the rivalry, which highlights everything fans love about college football.
The Army-Navy game will be televised on CBS. Kickoff is set for Saturday, Dec. 13 at 3 p.m. ET and both teams will wear special uniforms for the contest. Army and Navy no longer have the Saturday all to themselves. The Boise State Broncos also play the Washington Huskies in the LA Bowl on Saturday night at 8 p.m. ET.
GameDay did announce where it is headed for the first-round of the playoff. It will attend Alabama Crimson Tide at Oklahoma Sooners game (kickoff at 8 p.m. ET) on Friday, Dec. 19 and then the Miami Hurricanes at Texas A&M Aggies game (kickoff at noon ET) on Saturday, Dec. 20.
GameDay’s trips to Oklahoma and Texas A&M will mark the sixth and seventh time GameDay has visited an SEC campus this season (does not include the SEC championship). A lot of fans won’t like this and will cry SEC bias, but the way the playoff worked out it is clear that these will be the two most competitive games of the first-round. Oregon and Ole Miss are both favored by over two touchdowns against the Group of Five opponents (James Madison and Tulane) they are playing in the first-round of the playoff.
