While two defensive players have opted out of the Pinstripe Bowl for the Nittany Lions, Nicholas Singleton has become the first on the offensive side of the ball.

Singleton will go down in Penn State history as one of the greatest running backs to have played for the program. When his career started in 2022, no expected him to become as legendary as he did. And yet, Singleton holds many different Penn State records that could stand for quite some time.

He will end his time with the Nittany Lions as the all-time leader in all-purpose yards, rushing touchdowns, and overall touchdowns for the school. He did all of this in Penn State’s final regular season game against Rutgers on the road, where he totaled 183 yards on the ground. He rushed for 1,000 yards two separate times in his career, once in his true freshman season, and the other in 2024, when he rushed for a career-high 1,099 yards.

Many mock drafts have Singleton being selected in the fourth round of the 2026 NFL draft, but not many suggest that he will be the first running back off the board.

Still, Singleton is the third Penn State player to opt out of the bowl game, joining DT Zane Durant and CB Zakee Wheatley.
