This week, Chiefs Wire's Ed Easton Jr. spoke with retired NFL quarterback and College Football Hall of Famer Tim Tebow.
In his interview with Easton Jr., Tebow discussed his role as an ambassador for the Allstate AFCA Good Works Team, the mentorship from Danny Wuerffel, and the impact of the Wuerffel Trophy.
"Well, it was very special for a few reasons. One, because Danny (Wuerffel) was a hero to me growing up, I was the absolute biggest fan he had. He was more than that. He was a role model to me, and he influenced my life in so many ways," said Tebow. "When I had the privilege of winning the Heisman Trophy, it was surreal walking up and giving him a hug. A few years later, when I had the privilege of winning the Allstate Wuerffel Trophy and being able to thank him honestly and honor him, even though it was an opportunity for me to win, it was more about talking about him and his influence."

Allstate works with Tebow as part of the Good Works Team to honor the 20 most charitable student-athletes in all of college football, plus one honorary head coach. He is the program's ambassador and a former team captain. Kansas City Chiefs linebacker Drue Tranquill was named team captain, winning the award in 2018 while attending Notre Dame.
"I believe that when we talk about legacy, it's something special, and I think that it's something that you leave behind, and it's, you know, I like comparing it to inheritance, because both of them are things that you leave behind, except one of them is for someone, and the other is in someone. "The legacy Danny is leaving is in many players who have looked up to him," said Tebow. "Maybe now he hasn't necessarily seen and played, but is striving to make a difference on and off the field as he did." I think that's a special legacy."
The Good Works Team Captain will be announced live on Friday, December 12th, during the ESPN Home Depot College Football Awards.

Tranquill and the rest of the Chiefs are battling for a playoff spot, as Tebow acknowledged the league's competition and parity this season.
"There's just a lot of really, really good players. I think there are a lot of players that have had great preparation, high school, college, and you're seeing more that I think are showing up prepared. I think the offenses are also, in specific ways, becoming more quarterback-friendly. Where you're you're, they're playing to their player strengths, I think, a little bit more, and then I think you have a lot of really good players."
