Before you tune in to watch the Texas A&M volleyball team face Louisville in the Sweet 16, take a moment to catch head football coach Mike Elko’s conversation with Pat McAfee about preparing for the first round of the College Football Playoff against Miami at Kyle Field.

There has been a cultural shift in Aggieland, and it’s already evident in year two under Elko. Texas A&M has never struggled to attract talent, but far too often it failed to meet expectations. While it may be difficult to fully evaluate Elko this early in his tenure—especially with all the changes across the conference—he has accomplished something that has eluded the Aggies for years: he has them competing in a truly meaningful postseason game at Kyle Field.

Elko earned himself a raise, and offensive coordinator Collin Klein secured a head coaching position at his alma mater, Kansas State. That alone signals Elko is doing something rare, and recruits are taking notice. He signed a top-10 class this season, and if the Aggies deliver another strong showing in 2026, he could potentially land the No. 1 class in 2027.

For now, though, the focus is squarely on the College Football Playoff, where Elko sat down with The Pat McAfee Show to discuss all things Aggie football.
