The Michigan Wolverines‘ fanbase and college football fans across the country are reeling from Thursday’s news that former Wolverines coach Sherrone Moore broke into the house of his former mistress Paige Shivers and threatened to kill himself, landing himself in jail during the process.
On Friday, a person with family ties to the university, Maria Schriver, who served as California’s First Lady from 2003 to 2011, had a clear and unmistakable message for those who have been following the situation on her X account.
Shriver’s Message to Fans, Well Wishers
Shriver called on fans and well wishers to keep Kelli Moore and her family in their minds when discussing the Sherrone Moore saga.
“I’m a big Michigan football fan,” former California governor Arnold Schwarzenegger’s ex-wife said in her message.
“I’m a parent of a Go Blue graduate. So today’s story saddens me. May we remember this coach has a family, a wife, three daughters. Let’s be mindful of them and what they are going through at this moment.
“The football team will go and be fine, the family will never be the same. Tread gently,” she added, retweeting a CBS Mornings video on the situation.

Fans React to Shriver’s Message
Fans weren’t fully on board with Shriver as they pointed their fingers at other parts of the story.
“What about the woman he stalked and threatened?” another wrote. “…Thoughts and prayers for her, Maria?”
“I mean, he should have remembered that he had a wife and three daughters,” another said.
“Agreed, I am a Michigan alum myself,” a third said.
“What about the woman?” another asked seemingly about Shivers. “You don’t care about her?”
“Why?” another asked, saying “He wasn’t mindful of them.”
“They have permanently stained college football,” another person said. “For the fans and sponsors’ sake they should withdraw from the Citrus Bowl (against Texas).”
“Isn’t it his job to worry about his family?” another asked of Moore.
“Sherrone did this to his family,” another said. “He is responsible for every horrible decision.”
