Elkhart receives 13 selections on 11-3A team

The Elkhart Elks received 13 nominations on the 11-3A All-District Football Team selected by the district coaches Monday.

“Our guys did a great job of representing Elkhart High School in a very competitive district,” first year head football coach Ryan Blackmon said. “To be named to the District 11-3A All-District team, among some very talented football players, is certainly an honor for these young men.”

Leading the way was Nicholas Rodriguez, who was named Special Teams Player of the Year along with Utility Player of the Year Jackson Denney.

Callyn Franklin received the only first team honor as a punter. Franklin was also named as a second team tight end.

Second team honors went to running back Dalton Walker, safety Brannigan Blackmon, wide receiver Javon Smith and defensive lineman Grayson Harris. Hayden Pittman was named to the second team as an offensive lineman and honorable mention defensive lineman.

The Elks had five players named honorable mention in wide receiver Riley Phillips, quarterback Coyt Cooper, outside linebacker Juan Banuelos, fullback Atticus Polk and offensive lineman Luis Lopez.

Members of the Academic All-District team are Walker, Phillips, Ethan Waldon, Rodriguez, Blackmon, Cooper, Denney, Franklin, Banuelos, Travis Smith, Garrett Dunaway, Pittman, Angel Ramirez, Landon Westbrook, Luis Lopez and Peyton Wilson.

The Elks finished the year with a record of 2-8 overall and 1-5 in district play.
