Indiana quarterback Fernando Mendoza is going viral for the right reasons ahead of this weekend's Heisman Trophy ceremony.
Mendoza has been sensational for the Hoosiers this season, completing 71.5% of his passes for 2,980 yards with 33 touchdowns and six interceptions. He's also been impactful on the ground, rushing for 240 yards and six touchdowns. As of now, he's projected to be the No. 1 quarterback prospect in the 2026 NFL Draft.
While there's plenty of buzz surrounding Mendoza's production off the field, it's worth noting that he's also been thriving off it. Prior to the Big Ten Championship, he signed an NIL deal with Adidas.
"Excited to share that I’ve accepted an opportunity to join adidas," Mendoza said. "I’m very grateful for everyone who has supported me along the way and excited to bring my passion for sport, leadership, and work ethic to the Three Stripes. Let’s get to work."
Well, it didn't take long for Mendoza to put his partnership with Adidas to good use.
On Saturday morning, Mendoza teamed up with Adidas to provide a shopping spree for four families impacted by multiple sclerosis. This cause was near and dear to his heart since his mother Elsa has been battling MS.
Anthony Calhoun of WISH-TV noted that Mendoza has already raised $65,000 for MS.

Fans rooting for Mendoza to win the Heisman.
Oddsmakers have Mendoza as the overwhelming favorite to win the Heisman Trophy. Judging by the reactions to his gesture on Saturday, fans would love to see him lift the award in New York City.
"Fernando Mendoza is a wonderful human," a fan said. "And he should also take home the Heisman Trophy tonight too."
"They better give it to him, and it shouldn't be close tbh. Julian and or Jeremiah can keep it in the B1G next year," a second fan wrote. "They have bigger things to do until then."
"Others before self. What an outstanding gesture by this young man," another fan commented.
Regardless of what happens tonight, Indiana fans have to be proud of Mendoza. He's truly a superstar on and off the field.
