Notre Dame was officially snubbed by the College Football Playoff selection committee.
The Fighting Irish went 10-2 in the regular season, but they were jumped by 10-2 Miami in the College Football Playoff selection committee's final rankings. Notre Dame was in line to get a spot in the College Football Playoff, before the committee changed its rankings on the final day, putting Miami – which beat Notre Dame in Week 1 – into the field.
CFP selection committee chair Hunter Yurachek defended the decision.
"Once we moved Miami ahead of BYU, then we had that side-by-side comparison that everybody had been hungering for," Yurachek said. "You look at those two teams on paper, and they are almost equal in their schedule strength, their common opponents, the results against common opponents.
"But the one metric we had to fall back on, again, was the head-to-head."
Cris Collinsworth's son, Jac, did not hold back on the College Football Playoff selection committee's decision. He made it clear that he feels like the College Football Playoff selection committee messed up.
The son of the prominent NFL announcer believes that Alabama, not Notre Dame, should've been held out.
"We’ve seen enough … Alabama is OUT," he said.

Notre Dame skipping out on bowl season now
As a result of their College Football Playoff snub, the Fighting Irish are skipping out on the College Football Playoff.
"As a team, we've decided to withdraw our name from consideration for a bowl game following the 2025 season," Notre Dame announced. "We appreciate all the support from our families and fans, and we're hoping to bring the 12th national title to South Bend in 2026."
The Fighting Irish remain upset.
