Florida Receives Bad News After College Football Season

The Florida Gators finished the 2025 season 4-8 overall and 2-6 in SEC matchups. The program failed to reach bowl eligibility for the second time in three seasons.

The poor performance led to several major changes. That included the firing of head coach Billy Napier on Oct. 19. He has since been replaced by Jon Sumrall, who went 20-7 over the last two seasons with the Tulane Green Wave.

When undergoing a coaching change, several areas can be hit, including high school recruiting. On Sunday, the Gators suffered a big loss.

Rivals’ Hayes Fawcett reported that class of 2027 athlete Tramond Collins is backing out of his commitment.

“BREAKING: Four-Star ATH Tramond Collins has Decommitted from Florida, he tells me for @rivals The 6’2 190 ATH had been Committed to the Gators since June,” Fawcett wrote.

Collins is listed as a four-star recruit, the No. 8 athlete and the No. 125 player in the nation by Rivals Industry Rankings. He plays wide receiver and defensive back for Cottondale High School in Cottondale, Florida.

He has several different schools to choose from, with offers from Tennessee, Kentucky, Auburn, Miami, Louisville and Maryland.

This past season, he scored nine rushing touchdowns and five receiving touchdowns. He also accumulated 50 tackles, one interception and two pass deflections.

What makes Collins’ decision even worse for Florida is that its 2027 recruiting class now has zero commitments. The Gators, along with the South Carolina Gamecocks and Auburn Tigers, are the only teams without a 2027 commit.

Despite the setback, being able to build up each recruiting class will play a big role in Sumrall’s ability to find success with Florida.
