Missouri’s College Football Playoff hopes are on the line on Saturday. With true freshman quarterback Matt Zollers starting vs No. 3 (8-0) Texas A&M, it’s safe to say that Mizzou is up against it in this matchup.
Per FanDuel, Texas A&M comes in as a -7.5-point favorite, and ESPN’s matchup predictor give the Aggies a 56.0 percent chance to win. The odds are simply not in the Tigers’ favor.
With losses to Alabama and Vanderbilt by a combined 10 points, there’s no doubt that Missouri is close to getting over the hump. While the expectations aren’t high coming into this one — Mizzou’s defense should still make this game competitive as Josh Matejka writes:
Still, it’s the kind of opportunity you dream of when you’re an on-the-rise program in the SEC. And regardless of who is behind center, Mizzou’s defense should keep things close enough to make it competitive. It’s put up or shut up time for the Tigers, at least as far as prospective postseason bids go.
Texas A&M might be undefeated, but they’re not unbeatable. And with the situation that Missouri is in at the moment, maybe Eli Drinkwitz’s team will be playing with house money in front of the home crowd. That’s not necessarily a bad thing.
