Mountain West Connection Players of the Week: Los Angeles Bowl

Bowl season is off to a fast start and the Mountain West’s first game was the LA Bowl featuring Boise State and Washington. Hopefully this game was not a sign of things to come, as the Broncos were dominated by the Huskies. Let’s take a look at the top performers from the game.

Offensive Player of the Game

Demond Williams Jr. (Washington)

The sophomore quarterback was sharp in Washington’s convincing win. He completed 15 of 24 passes for 215 yards and four touchdowns. Most of his damage came in the second quarter when Washington took control of the game.

Defensive Player of the Game

Xe’ree Alexander (Washington)

The junior linebacker had a career day for the Huskies, intercepting a Maddux Madsen pass that he nearly returned for a touchdown. Alexander also added seven tackles, a sack, and two passes defended.

Special Teams Player of the Game

Colton Boomer (Boise State)

Boomer’s 52-yard field goal on the first drive of the game was one of the few highlights for Boise State. It was a season-long field goal for Boomer, and he also connected on his only extra point attempt of the game.
