After much speculation surrounding the replacement of Collin Klein, the Texas A&M Aggies have found their new play caller for the offense heading into next season.

As announced by head coach Mike Elko during the CFP media availability on Monday, the Aggies have promoted current co-offensive coordinator and wide receivers coach Holmon Wiggins to the offensive coordinator position moving forward. While Klein will be calling the shots during Texas A&M’s run in the playoff, Wiggins will take over once he departs for his new position as the head coach of the Kansas State Wildcats. According to Elko, Texas A&M spoke to multiple outside candidates about the position, but the decision to bump Wiggins to become the new play caller for the Aggies’ offense was the best decision for the program moving forward.

“Really felt like the right person for the job was Holmon Wiggins. We’ve elevated him to the offensive coordinator position, and he’s the only person we offered the job to,” Elko said.

Wiggins was hired as part of Elko’s staff in 2024 and has played a tremendous role behind the scenes in getting the unit to become one of the most prolific offenses in college football over the last two years.

Before arriving in Bryan-College Station, Texas, Wiggins spent five seasons in the same role with the Alabama Crimson Tide. His experience in the Southeastern Conference and on the biggest stages in college football will play a tremendous role for the offensive side of the football moving forward, but this marks the first time in his coaching career that he will be the primary play caller.

His familiarity with coaching in the most competitive conference in college football and developing high-level talent was a massive factor that led to this eventual decision from Elko and company, along with the amount of trust the program has in Wiggins taking over the reins entering 2026.

Wiggins will remain in his current role as a co-offensive coordinator and wide receivers coach entering the CFP, as Klein remains the active, primary play caller, but that will change once the Aggies’ playoff run has been completed.
