Alabama football could have a handful of players back for its first round meeting against Oklahoma in the College Football Playoff.

Alabama running back Jam Miller was back on the practice field Monday, Dec. 15 leading his position group in drills.

Alabama coach Kalen DeBoer said Miller is “making good progress” after he missed the Crimson Tide’s SEC Championship Game loss to Georgia.

“Just trying to continue to see how the week goes along,” DeBoer said. “You guys saw him out there doing some things today.”

Alabama tight end Josh Cuevas participated in pre-practice stretches, but went to the exercise bike during position drills.

“Making some progress out there, doing some work,” DeBoer said. “You’re optimistic at this point.”

DeBoer said center Parker Brailsford is “doing good” and has “been practicing” after he was seen with a boot on his foot late in the regular season.

DeBoer did not mention the status of Kam Dewberry, who was seen working with the first-team offensive line in practice Monday. Dewberry did not play against Georgia.

“You still have four days left, so those guys are heading in a good direction, making good progress and continue to evaluate them moving forward,” DeBoer said. “You know you saw them out there doing some things in practice.”

Kalen DeBoer: LT Overton ‘doubtful’ vs Oklahoma

DeBoer said he expects defensive lineman LT Overton to be unavailable after missing the SEC Championship Game with an illness.

“Continuing to monitor him,” DeBoer said. “I’d say he’s doubtful for this week.”

Alabama kicks off against Oklahoma at 7 p.m. CT Friday, Dec. 19 in Norman.
