AUBURN — Bear McWhorter, a consensus three-star offensive line prospect in the 2026 class and former Michigan signee, announced his commitment to Auburn football on Monday, Dec. 15.

McWhorter was released from his national letter of intent following the firing of Michigan head coach Sherrone Moore last week, ending a commitment he’d held since February. McWhorter committed to the Wolverines over Alabama, Clemson, Florida and South Carolina.

While McWhorter wasn’t heavily targeted by Auburn‘s former staff, he did hold an offer from the program. He’s also a high school teammate of current Auburn offensive lineman Kail Ellis.

Listed at 6-foot-4 and 293 pounds, McWhorter is considered at least a three-star prospect by each of the major recruiting sites. ESPN ranks him as the 210th best player in the nation and class’ fourth-best interior offensive lineman.

Alex Golesh and his staff concluded the early signing period with an 18-man class that ranked 41st nationally and 14th in the SEC. McWhorter’s addition makes him the sixth-highest-rated player in the class, and he moved the class up to 35th nationally.

Where does Auburn football’s signing class rank with Bear McWhorter’s addition?

  • 247Sports: No. 35 (No. 14 SEC)
  • On3: No. 45 (No. 14 SEC)
