STILLWATER — The quarterback depth chart is thinning out at Oklahoma State, with news Monday that Zane Flores plans to enter the transfer portal, The Oklahoman has confirmed.

Flores, who started eight games as a redshirt freshman in 2025, is one of at least three quarterbacks expected to depart amid the transition to the coaching staff of newly hired head man Eric Morris. Flores’ plan to transfer was first reported by ESPN.

The 6-foot-3, 215-pound Flores, who is originally from Gretna, Nebraska, outside Omaha, threw for 1,490 yards and three touchdowns with seven interceptions, completing 59.8% of his passes.

He spent three seasons at OSU, redshirting as a true freshman in 2023, then serving as a backup until undergoing season-ending ankle surgery in 2024. The NCAA granted him a medical hardship year, meaning he will have three years of eligibility remaining at his next stop.

Freshman Mason Schubert, who primarily served as the scout team quarterback while redshirting, is expected to enter the transfer portal. Redshirt junior Noah Walters, who was added to the quarterback group in September, took part in Senior Day activities and is not expected to return to the program.

That leaves just two potential returners from the 2025 roster at quarterback: Hauss Hejny and Banks Bowen.

Hejny was named the starter for the season opener, but broke his foot on the third series of the game and didn’t play the rest of the season. Bowen appeared in three games as a true freshman. His father, Clint Bowen, was OSU’s interim defensive coordinator the last eight games of the season, but is not expected to be retained by the new coaching staff.
