Arch Manning Makes Major Career Decision on Monday

Texas Longhorns quarterback Arch Manning came into his first season as the starter as the Heisman favorite and projected No. 1 pick in the 2026 NFL Draft.

Unfortunately for him, he didn’t immediately ascend to superstardom as many fans and analysts expected. Through his first three starts of the year, Manning completed just 55.3% of his passes for 579 yards with six touchdowns and three interceptions. However, the nephew of former NFL stars Peyton and Eli Manning turn things down the stretch.

En route to leading Texas to a 9-3 record, Manning threw for 2,942 yards with 24 touchdowns and seven interceptions, while also rushing for 244 yards and eight scores. With a strong last month of the season, which saw him throw for 1,147 yards, nine touchdowns to just one interception, many flirted with the idea of him leaving Texas for the NFL.

However, a Monday report by 247Sports’ Chip Brown confirmed that Manning will be back in Austin next season.

Although the Manning family had been fairly adamant that the Texas gunslinger wouldn’t leave after one year at the helm, a weak 2026 quarterback class had some around the industry convinced he may test his luck.

A return to Texas will not only give Manning a chance to build off his strong finish to the regular season but also help Texas return to the College Football Playoff after being left out this year.

Since they were left out of the College Football Playoff, the No. 13 Longhorns will instead play in the Citrus Bowl against No. 18 Michigan.

The game will take place on Dec. 31 at 3:00 p.m. ET and air on ABC.
