After a tremendous five-year career with Iowa football, Hawkeyes defensive lineman Max Llewellyn has formally accepted his invite to the 2026 East-West Shrine Bowl. The annual event allows some of the nation’s top college football players a chance to showcase their talents in front of a collection of NFL scouts, coaches, and executives from all 32 teams.
While a number of his fellow teammates have accepted invites to the other NFL scouting events, such as the Panini Senior Bowl, Llewellyn is the first Hawkeye to represent Iowa in this particular showcase.
The 6-foot-5, 263-pound defensive lineman from Urbandale, Iowa, has played in 42 career games during his time in Iowa City, including starting all 12 for the Hawkeyes in 2025. Llewellyn has recorded 61 career tackles, 20 tackles for loss, 14 sacks, 10 passes defended, three forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries.
