Former Ohio State commit Legend Bey seeks release from Tennessee: report

A four-star athlete in the recruiting class of 2026, Legend Bey may end up with Ohio State football after all.

Bey, who flipped his commitment from Ohio State to Tennessee on Dec. 3rd’s signing day, has requested a letter of release from the Volunteers, according to On3’s Sam Spiegelman.

Per Spiegelman, who spoke on “The Inside Scoop” podcast on Dec. 14, Bey is waiting for the school to approve.

Bey committed to play for Tennessee on June 28 before flipping his commitment to Ohio State on Nov. 10. After committing to the Volunteers, a message on Bey’s X account was posted on Dec. 4 and quickly deleted, according to multiple reports:

Good Afternoon, I was just recently logged out of my IG (Instagram) and probably will be logged out of this Account as well by my older brother who has access to my account because, I won’t sign to the school him and my mother wants – Legend Bey”

Bey posted a collection of photos on his Instagram account on Dec. 12 that included him wearing Ohio State merchandise during a training session. The post caption read, “Imma do my own thing.”

Bey is the No. 9 Athlete-classified prospect and No. 175 prospect nationally in the 2026 class according to 247Sports’ composite rankings. He was a quarterback at North Forney High School in Texas, rushing for more than 4,000 yards and passing for more than 3,500 yards during his career.
