Alex Golesh completes Auburn football staff with Howard HC Larry Scott

AUBURN — Alex Golesh has completed his first coaching staff with Auburn football, as the program announced Tuesday, Dec. 16, that Howard head coach Larry Scott would be joining the program as tight ends coach.

He’s the final piece of a 12-man coaching staff that includes seven assistants with SEC experience, including five with coordinating experience in the league.

“Larry’s the kind of coach you want in your building,” Golesh said in a release. “He knows the position, he knows how to develop young men, and he’s done it at a high level for a long time. Our tight ends are going to benefit immediately from his experience and his approach. Adding an elite coach like Larry with his experience in the SEC and as a head coach and coordinator is huge for the program.”

Scott spent the past five seasons at Howard, which was his first head-coaching gig. He went 23-37 with the Bison, but he won two MEAC championships. Prior to Howard, Scott spent seven seasons between three schools — Florida, Miami and Tennessee — as an assistant.

He was tight ends coach for at least one season with each program. He spent the 2017 season as Tennessee’s offensive coordinator, and he was Miami’s interim head coach for its final six games of 2015.
