MANHATTAN — Kansas State football is set to lose its leading wide receiver from the 2025 season, leaving a big hole for Collin Klein as he looks to rebuild the Wildcats’ offense.

Jayce Brown intends to enter the transfer portal, ESPN’s Pete Thamel reported on Tuesday, Dec. 16. Brown led the Wildcats in receiving with 712 yards this season, and he will be among the most productive receivers in the transfer portal.

Brown was Avery Johnson’s most reliable target throughout an injury-heavy 2025 season to the Wildcats’ wide receiver group. He hauled in 41 passes and five touchdowns, while also rushing for 116 yards and a score. Over 33 games over the last three seasons, he’s caught 115 passes for 1,972 yards and 13 touchdowns, while averaging 17.1 yards per reception.

Jaron Tibbs was the only other Wildcats wide receiver to finish 2025 with more than 185 receiving yards.

Kansas State signed three wide receivers during the Dec. 2 early signing period, which included Derrick Salley Jr., the No. 1 juco wide receiver in the country. Maxwell Lovett and Tanner West were the other two, and it now appears Klein will have to hit the transfer portal hard for the position once it opens on Jan. 2.

Brown was a three-star prospect out of Fort Walton Beach, Florida, when he signed with the Class of 2023. The Wildcats were the only power conference program to offer him.
