Zaid Lott, Providence Day’s senior quarterback, capped his high school career with a prolific season, cementing himself as one of North Carolina’s most dynamic signal callers and a rising name in college football.

At 6-foot-4 and 225 pounds, Lott combined size, athleticism and leadership to guide Providence Day School’s offense through another strong campaign in the NCISAA Division I ranks.

His play earned him a spot as a finalist on the ALL-USA East Football Team, which also makes him a finalist for the national ALL-USA Football Team. Both of those teams will be announced later this month. Here is a full list of all the quarterback finalists.

Lott’s senior season numbers underscore his impact: 2,497 passing yards, 35 touchdowns and just four interceptions across 277 attempts, completing 184 passes at a clip of over 66 percent. He averaged 208.1 passing yards per game, ranking among the top 15 quarterbacks statewide, and added a rushing dimension with over 700 yards and 13 touchdowns.

Those statistics were built on a career defined by consistency and growth. Over his final two seasons, Lott threw 64 touchdowns against only 10 interceptions, a ratio that highlights his ability to protect the football while still attacking defenses vertically.

His deep-ball accuracy became a hallmark, often flipping field position or breaking games open with throws down the seam. In 2024, he posted 2,869 passing yards and 29 touchdowns, including a standout performance in the NCISAA title game against Rabun Gap, where he threw for 329 yards and four scores. He also rushed for 285 yards and seven touchdowns that year, showing the dual-threat versatility that made him a nightmare for opposing coordinators.

Initially committed to North Carolina in 2024, he reaffirmed his pledge after the Tar Heels’ coaching change that brought Bill Belichick to Chapel Hill. But in the spring, Lott announced his decommitment from UNC and subsequent commitment to Syracuse, where he will join the Orange as part of their 2026 class.

Rated a three-star prospect by 247Sports, Lott is ranked as the No. 75 quarterback nationally and No. 51 overall recruit in North Carolina.

Lott is a standout in basketball as well, and he credits the hardwood for sharpening his footwork and spatial awareness, skills that translate directly to pocket movement and defensive recognition. Coaches and evaluators consistently praise his composure, strong arm, and leadership qualities. His ability to extend plays with his legs while keeping his eyes downfield has drawn comparisons to modern dual-threat quarterbacks thriving at the college level.

Providence Day’s program has long been a pipeline for Division I talent, producing stars like offensive lineman David Sanders (Tennessee) and Braxton Winston (Wake Forest). Lott’s emergence continues that tradition.
