With over 700 and counting players set to enter their names into the college football transfer portal, much of the attention on this year’s cycle is on the quarterbacks.
Some notable names such as Sam Leavitt (Arizona State), Dylan Raiola (Nebraska), DJ Bredan Sorsby (Cincinnati) and Lagway (Florida), currently headline the top of On3’s rankings, but a signal caller or two may get bumped down after the latest portal update.
As confirmed by On3, North Texas quarterback Drew Mestemaker is expected to enter his name into the transfer portal after a tremendous season.

The former walk-on who was a zero-star recruit that hadn’t started since he was a freshman in high school absolutely took college football by storm.
Mestemaker threw for a college football-leading 4,129 yards, paired with 31 touchdowns and just seven interceptions, while also rushing for five more scores. The Austin native led North Texas to an 11-2 regular season, the program’s highest win total in school history.
While plenty of schools will be after him, the common belief is that he will follow now-former North Texas coach Eric Morris to Oklahoma State.
The Mean Green are set to take on San Diego State (9-3) on Saturday, Dec. 27 in the Isleta New Mexico Bowl. According to Chris Hummer of 247Sports, Mestemaker isn’t expected to announce his decision until after the bowl game.
