LSU football interim head coach Frank Wilson won't be a part of new head coach Lane Kiffin's coaching staff in Baton Rouge. In fact, Wilson will join one of LSU's most heated Rivals. Per On3's Pete Nakos, Wilson will be Ole Miss's next running backs coach.

The report ends weeks of speculation about whether or not Wilson had a future role at LSU. Wilson and Kiffin have a history as Wilson was on Kiffin's 2009 staff at Tennessee. That led some to think Wilson would be retained at LSU, but after days passed with no word, it became obvious Kiffin was looking at other candidates.

Wilson is viewed as one of the top recruiters in the country. He rose through the ranks as a high school coach in New Orleans and when he was hired by Brian Kelly in 2021, it marked the start of his second stint at LSU.

This will be Wilson's second stint at Ole Miss, the place where he got his start in college coaching. New Ole Miss head coach Pete Golding was an assistant under Wilson when Wilson was UTSA's head coach.

Wilson's move only adds to the drama between LSU and Ole Miss after Kiffin's Oxford exit.

With Wilson heading to Ole Miss, there will be talk of current Ole Miss running backs coach Kevin Smith joining Kiffin at LSU.
