The LSU Tigers are down to just one scholarship quarterback in 2026 as redshirt freshman quarterback Colin Hurley has entered the transfer portal per Pete Nakos of On3 Sports.
Hurley was a four-star recruit out of Trinity Christian Academy high school in Jacksonville, Fla. He was the No. 22 quarterback in his class and the No. 42 player in Florida according to the 247Sports rankings.
He was a very big Brian Kelly, Joe Sloan project. He joined the program in 2024 at just 16 years old after reclassifying. It was always going to be an intensive developmental job, so it's not too shocking that he never attempted a pass for the Tigers.
With Kelly and Sloan out, Hurley was never expected to be too far behind. The quarterback also left the team back in November.
It was a tough year for the Florida native. He had a single-car accident in January 2025 that kept hi out of spring football. For someone as young and raw as him, that surely set back his development for this season.
Whichever team lands Hurley will be getting an 18-year-old that has been around the LSU quarterback room for two seasons and should be far ahead of many others at that age.
As for the Tigers, their need for a transfer quarterback has only grown. They tried to flip high school recruit Landon Duckworth away from the South Carolina Gamecocks at the last second, but failed.
Now it's just Michael Van Buren Jr. on the roster for next season.
