LSU football will lose a five-star freshman to the transfer portal. Per Rivals Hayes Fawcett, offensive lineman Carius Curne plans to enter the portal after one year with the Tigers. Curne was a five-star recruit in 2025 and saw significant time as a true freshman.
The move comes amid a massive shakeup for the LSU offense as new head coach Lane Kiffin takes over the program. LSU will see a completely new offensive staff in 2026 — transfers are expected with that much turnover on the coaching staff.
Curne did not play much over the first four weeks of the season, but made the first start of his career vs. Ole Miss in Week 5. From there, Curne was a regular on the Tigers’ offensive line. The entire unit struggled and Curne was not immune. Curne allowed 11 pressures and three sacks in 198 pass blocking snaps.
On the year, he played 305 offensive snaps and made five starts. He did not play in LSU’s final game of the regular season vs. Oklahoma.

Curne, an Arkansas native, was the No. 2-ranked interior offensive line recruit in his class. This isn’t a major blow to LSU, but offensive line is a position where it’s hard to maintain depth. Curne is young and talented, which will make him a popular name when the portal opens.
Kiffin has tabbed Eric Wolford to be LSU’s next offensive line coach. Brad Davis, the coach who recruited Curne, is not being retained.
