Nebraska football running back Emmett Johnson was named a First-Team All-American earlier this month. Johnson made additional history with the accolade. He is the 97th player in Nebraska football history to earn first-team honors.

Johnson is the first Nebraska player to earn first-team honors since linebacker Lavonte David did so in 2011. He is also the Husker running back to earn first-team All-America honors since Heisman winner Mike Rozier in 1983.

Johnson had a tremendous year for the program, with 1,451 rushing yards and 12 touchdowns. He averaged 5.8 yards per carry and averaged 120.9 yards per game. It was a tremendous season for a program that featured a dynamic offense.

Johnson will now take his talents to the NFL. He declared for the draft earlier this month, and I will be looking to make an impact on Sundays. He started off as a relatively unknown recruit in 2021 and wound up becoming one of the best running backs in Nebraska football history.
