A former Georgia Bulldog is paving a new path in high school coaching. Former Georgia linebacker Jarvis Jones, who’s the head coach of the George Washington Carver High School football team, led the Tigers to a 15-0 record and a win in the GHSA Class AA state championship.
Jones’ roster includes several future Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) athletes, including five-star Texas A&M EDGE commit Tristian Givens, three-star Auburn offensive lineman commit Parker Pritchett, and three-star Tennessee defensive lineman commit Nic’Quayvion Simmons. They helped win Carver High School the championship.
The Bulldogs could be getting a commit from Jones’ team. Three-star wide receiver Kei’Maurii Miles decommitted from the North Carolina Tar Heels on Nov. 6, 2025, and On3’s projection models give him a 41.7% chance to commit to Georgia.
Jones took over as head coach of the Tigers in May 2025. He went to Carver High School, where he became the No. 4 linebacker and No. 49 overall recruit from the class of 2009.
Jones originally committed to the USC Trojans, but after a spine injury that forced a medical transfer, Jones went to the Bulldogs in 2010. With Georgia, Jones transformed a dominant edge rusher.
In 2011, he led the conference with 19.5 tackles for loss and 13.5 sacks, and in 2012, his senior season, he led the nation with 24.5 tackles for loss and 14.5 sacks. He was a consensus All-American and first-team All-SEC selection in both years. After his prolific college career, he was drafted with the No. 13 pick to the Pittsburgh Steelers in the 2013 NFL draft.
