On Thursday, new Michigan State football head coach Pat Fitzgerald made waves across the Big Ten, poaching longtime Iowa assistant LeVar Woods to be his assistant head coach and special teams coordinator in East Lansing.

The move was confirmed in Iowa City on Thursday during a press conference, where Woods talked about the move alongside Kirk Ferentz. Woods got emotional talking about the move, and Ferentz shared the sentiment.

Ferentz talked about Woods as a player, and what he meant to the Iowa program when Ferentz first took over in 1998. Following that, Ferentz touched on the amazing memories and coaching job that Woods performed in his 17 years being a part of his staff.

An emotional press conference, it is evident how close the two coaches are to one another and how much of an impact this decision made on the Iowa program.
