9,000-Yard QB to Enter Name into College Football Transfer Portal

The college football transfer portal officially opens on Jan. 2, but it has already gotten quite active.

As of Thursday evening, On3 has logged 852 players who have announced they plan to transfer when the portal opens. While the rules say there shouldn’t be contact before then, moves are already being made and programs are in contact with players all over the country.

As it is every offseason, the quarterback carousel in the transfer portal is expected to be quite active. Notable signal callers such as DJ Lagway (Florida), Brendan Sorsby (Cincinnati), Sam Leavitt (Arizona State) and Dylan Raiola (Nebraska) have all already decided to transfer elsewhere, and the class of impressive signal callers grew again on Thursday.

As revealed by On3, TCU Horned Frogs quarterback Josh Hoover is planning to enter his name into the college football transfer portal.

Known for being one of the best gunslingers in college football, Hoover has thrown 9,629 yards, 71 touchdowns to 33 interceptions and completed 65.2% of his career passes.

This season alone, Hoover threw for 3,472 yards with a career-high 29 touchdowns, while completing 65.9% of his passes.

While it’s still early to tell in the process, 247Sports’ Chris Hummer has already linked the Indiana Hoosiers to Hoover.

This development shouldn’t come as a surprise, considering the No. 1-seed Hoosiers and Curt Cignetti have found success with the likes of transfer signal callers such as Fernando Mendoza (Cal) and Kurtis Rourke (Ohio).

Whoever lands Hoover is getting a quarterback with great arm talent and accuracy, and with better weapons around him, he could lead a team to title contention.
