Texas A&M (11-1, 7-1 SEC) is less than 24 hours away from hosting Miami (10-2) in the first round of the College Football Playoff. After losing to rival Texas on the road almost a month ago, the Aggies have had plenty of time to fix their remaining issues and prepare to face one of the more complete teams in the country on Saturday afternoon.
Throughout the month, the health status of senior running back Le’Veon Moss has been the primary talking point, knowing that the Aggies would have likely finished 12-0 with a chance at an SEC Championship if Moss had not been injured against Florida in late October.
With an ankle injury, head coach Mike Elko has kept things under wraps for the most part, while confirming on Wednesday that he remains in “wait-and-see mode” regarding his star back’s status. However, the first official injury report, which was released on Wednesday, designated Moss as “questionable” with a 50% chance to play, coupled with linebacker Scooby Williams and safety Bryce Anderson as “probable” with a 75% chance to take the field.
On Thursday night, just minutes after Texas A&M’s Volleyball team swept No. 1 Pitt 3-0 to earn its first trip to the National Championship Game, the latest injury report revealed good news for the Aggies, as Williams and Anderson were not included in the injury report, while Moss remains questionable.
Getting both defenders back is great news for Texas A&M’s run defense, which has struggled early in games. For what it’s worth, a Texas A&M student who reportedly spoke with Le’Veon Moss on Saturday during the senior’s graduation ceremony stated, “Moss is a go!”
Texas A&M will host Miami on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. with coverage on ABC and ESPN.
