Some Ohio State fans are wondering when they get to see the Buckeyes play in the College Football Playoff on a mission to earn back-to-back national titles.
Ohio State earned a No. 2 seed in the 2025 CFP after falling to Indiana in the Big Ten championship. The game also cost Buckeyes quarterback Julian Sayin a shot at winning the Heisman Trophy. He finished fourth in the final voting and lost the award to Indiana quarterback Fernando Mendoza, who threw the game-winning touchdown pass against the Buckeyes for the Big Ten title.
The first round of the CFP started Dec. 19 with the Alabama-Oklahoma game.
Is Ohio State football playing today?
No, the Buckeyes do not play football on Dec. 20.
Ohio State clinched the No. 2 seed in the 2025 College Football Playoff and will not play until the quarterfinals against the winner of No. 7 Texas A&M and No. 10 Miami in the first round.
The first round of the CFP started on Dec. 19 when No. 8 Oklahoma faced No. 9 Alabama. Texas A&M and Miami play at noon Dec. 20.
When does Ohio State football play again?
The No. 2 Buckeyes play in the Cotton Bowl against the winner of No. 7 Texas A&M and No. 10 Miami in the College Football Playoff on Dec. 31.
