Michigan State football reportedly has a new offensive coordinator. And the new Spartan is a former Wolverine.

New MSU coach Pat Fitzgerald reportedly plans to dip into the College Football Playoff pool and hire Alabama co-offensive coordinator Nick Sheridan to take over MSU’s play-calling responsibilities, according to 247Sports.

The Saline, Michigan, native has split duties with JaMarcus Sheppard (now Oregon State’s head coach) in running Kalen DeBoer’s Alabama offense.

The Crimson Tide advanced in the CFP on Friday with a 34-24 win over Oklahoma. Sheridan was DeBoer’s tight ends coach at Washington in 2022 and 2023 after spending five seasons at Indiana.

He was the Hoosiers’ offensive coordinator for two seasons in 2020-21 and played quarterback at Michigan under Rich Rodriguez. He split snaps with Steven Threat during Rodriguez’s first season in 2008 and played eight games, when the Wolverines went 3-9.
