No. 7 seed Texas A&M (11-1) and No. 10 seed Miami (10-2) are playing in the College Football Playoff first round on Saturday at Kyle Field in College Station, Texas.

Texas A&M redshirt sophomore quarterback Marcel Reed is in his third season with the Aggies. The 6-foot-1, 185-pound quarterback is from Montgomery Bell Academy in Nashville, Tennessee.

Kentucky was the first school to offer a scholarship to Reed during his recruitment in high school. He held scholarship offers from the Wildcats, Louisville and Morehouse College before Tennessee and Alabama both offered him on Dec. 15, 2020.

Reed’s initial offer from the Vols was under then-head coach Jeremy Pruitt’s staff. Josh Heupel and Tennessee reaffirmed a scholarship offer to him on April 14, 2021.

Reed attended a Tennessee camp on June 4, 2021, while also unofficially visiting for the Tennessee-Ole Miss football game at Neyland Stadium on Oct. 16, 2021.

He committed to Ole Miss and former head coach Lane Kiffin on April 25, 2022. The 2023 prospect decommitted from the Rebels and committed to Texas A&M on Dec. 19, 2022. Reed signed a national letter of intent with the Aggies on Dec. 21, 2022.
